Sessions College Content Strategy
The content strategy for Sessions College focuses on building topical relevance to attract both branded and non-branded traffic, ultimately expanding visibility across degree programs. By targeting Top, Middle, and Bottom of the Funnel (TOFU, MOFU, BOFU) content, we aim to boost authority on commercial and informational intent keywords, driving conversions. The strategy involves creating content hubs around key categories like online degrees, admissions, and student experience, while implementing an anchor link structure to strengthen connections between blogs and degree pages, enhancing SEO and user navigation.
Initial Site Structure Design for University Graduation Site
The Figma wireframe displayed below showcases the initial site structure I designed for a university, reflecting my approach to effective SEO and content organization. This wireframe highlights key elements of a well-structured website, designed to enhance user experience and improve search engine visibility.
Key Features:
- Logical Hierarchy: The site structure is organized with a clear, logical hierarchy, making it easy for users to navigate and find relevant information quickly. Each section is strategically placed to align with user needs and departmental goals.
- SEO Best Practices: The wireframe incorporates essential SEO techniques, such as optimized page titles, meta descriptions, and a well-structured URL schema. These elements are designed to improve search engine indexing and ensure that the site ranks effectively for targeted keywords.
- Content Grouping: Content is organized into relevant categories and sub-categories, reducing index bloat and focusing search engine crawlers on high-priority pages. This structure supports a streamlined content strategy and enhances overall site performance.
- User-Centric Design: The wireframe emphasizes intuitive navigation and accessibility, ensuring that users can easily locate information and engage with the site. This user-centric approach is crucial for maintaining high engagement and satisfaction.
This initial site structure serves as a foundational blueprint for developing a website that not only meets strategic goals but also adheres to best practices in SEO and content organization. The design demonstrates a commitment to creating a user-friendly, search-optimized site that supports both the university’s objectives and its audience’s needs.
Diagnosing Unhealthy Site Organization and Index Bloat
The Figma wireframe below highlights a problematic site structure and organizational hierarchy from a previous department I worked with. The site was overloaded with numerous pages, many of which were outdated or misaligned with the department’s strategic goals. This excess content not only cluttered the site but also contributed to index bloat, making it difficult for search engines to efficiently crawl and index relevant information. The disorganization extended to the department’s hierarchy, where inefficiencies in management and communication further exacerbated the problem, creating additional barriers to effective operations and user experience.
